Our Story

Brittany & Tom met in the summer of 2012 while working at Boyne Mountain Resort in Northern Michigan. Brittany was the summer events intern, and Tom was helping to open Boyne Outfitters at the resort. Brittany went back to Michigan State University to start her junior year, while Tom returned to Central Michigan University to complete his final semester. From this point, they found themselves long-distance from Fall 2013-Fall 2015. They drove back and forth between Central & State all autumn, rarely spending more than four days apart. Brittany then traveled to Australia for the winter semester abroad in January 2013, and following had plans to work in Aspen, Colorado for the summer. While Brittany was abroad and as fate would have it, Tom found himself winter Steelhead guiding some Coloradoans in northern Michigan; conveniently they owned an outfitter and offered Tom a job on the spot to move to Minturn, Colorado and guide for Minturn Anglers. Fast forward to May 2013, Tom and his best buddy Jon Ciani, and Brittany + her mother Jeri started the 22 hour drive to Colorado! Tom settled into his notorious Minturn a-frame, while Brittany aquatinted to her apartment in Aspen. (Be sure, to ask Jeri about the first time she met Jon!!) It didn’t take long for Tom and Brittany to figure out that the Rocky Mountains were where they belonged. After an amazing summer, Brittany travelled back to Michigan to compete her senior year while Tom stayed in Minturn, Colorado awaiting Brittany’s return in summer of 2014. Fortunately enough, Brittany was offered a job to start her career in Aspen, and moved back six days after graduation! After another year apart, with residences in both Aspen & Vail, the couple knew it was time to finally choose one mountain town to share. Luckily Brittany won this debate! :) ASPEN >>> VAIL. #VAILSUCKS ….but not really.

Fast forward to May 2022

THE PROPOSAL:

Brittany & Tom found themselves travelling to France for their dear friends John & Alexandra’s wedding and decided to start their Euro trip in Italy!! Tom thought it would be funny to throw Brittany completely off course in the Denver International Airport while waiting to board a 10 hour flight and left Brittany questioning the future…

Brittany & Tom started their Italian journey in the beautiful city of Positano and enjoyed many beach clubs, food & wine, shops, and everything about Italian culture.

On May 21st, 2022, on the enchanting island of Capri, Italy, Tom had a grand plan to finally propose after 10 years. The stage was set on a perfect day as they embarked on a boat trip around the stunning coastline of Capri. Tom felt excited as he stood above the beautiful turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, while Brittany napped in the sun on the bow of the boat.

Giovanni, their friendly guide, sailed around the island and beneath the towering cliffs, allowing the couple to take in the mesmerizing beauty of Capri's coastline. Tom initially planned to pop the question in the Blue Grotto, however upon reaching the destination was deterred from the number of other boats and tourists around. After a few more hours of sailing and swimming, Tom ultimately chose the Faraglioni di Mezzo, as a perfect symbol of lasting love for his proposal location. Brittany was totally surprised and ecstatic!

They couple spent a few additional days celebrating in Capri, then jetted off to Sardinia where Brittany jumped right into wedding planning while drinking cocktails by the pool, and ultimately they finished their amazing Euro trip celebrating John and ALexandra’s marrige in France!
